
Traded ValueChinese authorities imposed a total penalty of about $528 million on seven major food delivery platforms for food safety violations, including failure to filter unqualified merchants and ghost shops. $Alibaba(BABA.US)’s platforms were among those hit, alongside $PDD(PDD.US), $JD.com(JD.US), Meituan and Douyin. This is reportedly the largest such penalty since the 2015 food safety law. Platforms were ordered to rectify issues and suspend some merchants.
