C114 News March 18 (Yi Zhen) Recently, according to the China Satellite Navigation System Management Office, in order to provide higher quality services, the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System will soon implement on-orbit upgrades to optimize and adjust the working status of some satellites. During the upgrade period, continuous efforts will be made to strengthen the joint debugging and testing of the on-orbit satellites and the monitoring and maintenance of service performance, ensuring user experience.
As a mature, fully functional, and high-performance global satellite navigation system, the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System currently operates 50 satellites in orbit, with spatial signal accuracy better than 2 meters, global positioning accuracy better than 10 meters, speed measurement accuracy better than 0.2 meters/second, and timing error less than 20 nanoseconds. Through precise single-point positioning service signals, positioning horizontal accuracy better than 0.3 meters and vertical accuracy better than 0.6 meters can be achieved.
Currently, the BeiDou system has been deeply integrated into the national economic and social development landscape, continuously providing high-precision positioning, navigation, and timing services to various users, becoming a technological pioneer supporting industry development and serving people's lives.
Since the provision of services, the application scenarios of the BeiDou system have fully covered key areas such as transportation, agriculture, forestry, fishery, hydrological monitoring, meteorological forecasting, communication timing, power dispatching, disaster relief, and public safety, providing solid support for the operation of important national infrastructure and creating significant economic and social benefits. Navigation services based on the BeiDou system have been adopted by manufacturers in e-commerce, mobile smart terminal manufacturing, and location services, widely entering the fields of mass consumption, shared economy, and people's livelihood in China, with new models, new formats, and new economies continuously emerging, profoundly changing people's production and lifestyle.
From the system architecture perspective, the BeiDou system consists of three parts: the space segment, ground segment, and user segment. The space segment is composed of several geostationary satellites, inclined geosynchronous satellites, and medium Earth orbit satellites. The ground segment includes several ground stations such as the master control station, time synchronization/injection stations, and monitoring stations, as well as inter-satellite link operation management facilities. The user segment includes BeiDou-compatible chips, modules, antennas, and other basic products of other satellite navigation systems, as well as terminal products, application systems, and application services.
Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission stated that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will continue to implement the BeiDou large-scale application project, promoting the BeiDou industry scale to exceed 1 trillion within five years.
