Qiu Yinghua led a delegation to visit Sichuan to promote liquor trade. Last year, the taxable value of Chinese liquor exported to Hong Kong reached 350 million yuan
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Qiu Yinghua, led a business delegation composed of representatives from various local wine associations and chambers of commerce to visit Sichuan, promoting Hong Kong's advantages as a hub for liquor trade and the role of Chinese baijiu in going global.
Qiu Yinghua and his delegation attended the Sichuan-Hong Kong Baijiu Industry Roundtable Meeting yesterday (25th) in Chengdu, Sichuan, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu, the Invest Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, engaging in in-depth exchanges with local wine industry representatives. Qiu Yinghua stated that the country is comprehensively advancing the "14th Five-Year Plan," accelerating the construction of a new development pattern, continuously expanding high-level opening up, and strongly supporting quality Chinese brands to go global.
Qiu Yinghua pointed out that in recent years, an increasing number of high-quality Chinese baijiu have entered the Hong Kong market. Last year, the tax-paid Chinese baijiu that entered the Hong Kong market reached over 1.3 million liters, with a value of HKD 350 million. Meanwhile, producers and traders from around the world view Hong Kong as an important window for expanding into the Asia-Pacific and mainland Chinese markets. Last year, the liquor re-exported to the mainland through Hong Kong reached 3.35 million liters, accounting for nearly 50% of the total liquor re-export volume, with a value of nearly HKD 3 billion.
Qiu Yinghua expressed that the brand value and international recognition of Chinese baijiu continue to rise. Driven by the national "14th Five-Year Plan" and the going-out strategy, mainland baijiu enterprises should seize opportunities and actively expand into overseas markets. Hong Kong will continue to play the role of a "super connector" and "super value creator," bringing international capital "in" while assisting mainland liquor companies in exploring overseas markets.
The delegation will visit another famous baijiu brand, Luzhou Laojiao, today, and then proceed to Guizhou to continue their visit itinerary
