During the Asia-Pacific morning session, the U.S. dollar index rose sharply as U.S. President Trump spoke, oscillating at high levels for most of the day and hitting a daily high at 19:16 Beijing time.
The Bloomberg Dollar Index rose 0.26%, closing at 1215.67 points.
The USD/JPY pair rose 0.50%, closing at 159.60 JPY, with an intraday trading range of 158.55-159.74 JPY.
