SWIRE PROPERTIES updates its sustainability strategy, setting 140 performance indicators for the next 10 years, with a green finance ratio target of 90%

SWIRE PROPERTIES (1972) announced the launch of its 2050 Sustainability Vision and Strategy, with the vision of "building the world's most sustainable communities." The aim is to lead innovative changes in the built environment, achieving harmonious coexistence among businesses, communities, and nature, while aligning with the company's business development in Hong Kong, mainland China, and Southeast Asia. The strategic focus includes goals related to climate transition, nature and biodiversity, and tenant engagement programs. SWIRE PROPERTIES stated that the new strategy further reflects the company's long-term commitment to sustainability as the core of its operations. The new strategy framework includes four commitments and five pillars The recently announced 2050 Sustainability Strategy responds to the "Where Next" initiative, aiming to create long-term value for key stakeholders such as investors, employees, tenants, customers, residents, business partners, visitors, and the community. Centered around four long-term commitments of zero harm, net-zero carbon emissions, zero waste to landfill, and water neutrality, the innovative strategy is established under five pillars: community building, human-centricity, partnership collaboration, environmental sustainability, and economic benefits. Over the next decade, it will drive impactful changes through a total of 140 performance indicators. Key strategic goals include green finance and climate transition SWIRE PROPERTIES stated that key strategic goals include achieving climate transition, meaning the company will become the first real estate developer in Hong Kong and mainland China to have short-term, long-term, and net-zero targets certified under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) building standards, and will strive to meet these relevant goals. Secondly, as part of a new "Nature Transition Program," the company aims to achieve natural gains throughout the building lifecycle, covering land acquisition and procurement processes, as well as integrating nature and biodiversity-friendly solutions into the planning and design of new development projects. It will further expand tenant engagement programs, committing to achieve 70% participation of office tenants in the "Environmental Performance Charter," 100 retail tenants in the "Green Retail Partnership," and 35% of dining tenants in the "Green Kitchen" program by 2030 or earlier; and committing that by 2035 or earlier, over 90% of its bond and loan financing will come from green finance.
