Since March, the prolonged military standoff between the US, Israel, and Iran has driven oil prices to surge, transmitting upward pressure throughout the entire chemical industry chain. As a highly anticipated industry exchange and procurement forum, the 2026 International Rubber and Plastics Exhibition will be held in Shanghai from April 21 to 24. The market performance of rubber and plastics has become a key indicator for gauging the chemical industry's resilience against geopolitical risks. Visits to over ten exhibitors revealed that since February 28, prices for domestic rubber and plastic materials including nylon, ABS, and PET have risen rapidly, with increases ranging from at least 20% to over 60%. Some products saw price hikes exceeding 10,000 yuan per ton. Certain items were even re-priced two to three times daily. Even as the industry faces pressure, multiple enterprises have still achieved counter-trend order growth by leveraging stable supply chains. (Shanghai Securities News)
