The company offers a two-hour system, as well as a four-hour model, and both feature liquid-cooled thermal management and a three-level battery management system that continuously monitors voltage, current, temperature, state of charge, and state of health.</p><p>Each container is fitted with a layered fire protection system that combines smoke, heat, and hydrogen detection with ventilation and suppression.</p><p>According to Ford Energy, the DC block packs 5.45 megawatt-hours and has a rated DC voltage between 1,040 and 1,500 volts. All containers can operate at temperatures between -31°F (-35°C) and 131°F (55°F), and feature an IP55 ingress protection rating.</p><p>To make it all happen, Ford has repurposed its existing battery factory in Glendale, Kentucky, which initially assembled high-nickel battery packs for the F-150 Lightning and E-Transit in collaboration with SK On. Last year, Tesla’s fastest-growing business was its Megapack system, bringing in $1.1 billion in gross profit in the fourth quarter alone.</p><div><div id="ads_6122441_EV_ev_us_Native_native_3_1778572644"></div></div><div><div id="ads_6122441_EV_ev_us_Native_native_2_1778572644"></div></div><p>Ford says its planned manufacturing scope covers everything from the electrode coils, which are assembled into individual modules, to the containers themselves.
