Mainland encourages the development of the elderly care service robot industry to promote the growth of the silver economy
The Ministry of Civil Affairs and seven other departments have issued the "Several Measures on Cultivating the Main Bodies of Elderly Care Services and Promoting the Development of the Silver Economy," proposing to optimize the supply of elderly care services and age-friendly products. They aim to expand and upgrade the construction of a 15-minute convenient living circle, guiding elderly care institutions to enter communities through chain operations, and encouraging housekeeping companies to actively develop home care services for the elderly. Support will be provided to cultivate specialized accompanying medical institutions to standardize services such as accompanying elderly patients for diagnosis and treatment. A series of fashionable elderly care consumption products will be promoted around categories such as smart rehabilitation aids and daily care, encouraging the development of cosmetics suitable for the elderly, as well as the research and processing of low-sugar, high-protein, and easy-to-chew foods suitable for the elderly, and advancing the renewal of home age-friendly transformation products to create suitable living scenarios for the elderly.
The measures also propose encouraging technological breakthroughs and product research and development in elderly care. They will strengthen the digital and intelligent upgrade of the elderly care service sector, applying big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and Beidou technology to health monitoring, safety alarms, and personalized services for the elderly. The development of the elderly care robotics industry will be encouraged, addressing the needs of families and institutions for daily care, emotional companionship, and social support for the elderly, promoting cross-industry collaboration and technological integration in robotics, medical rehabilitation, and smart home technologies. The acceleration of product research and development in embodied intelligence technology, emerging materials technology, genetic technology, and rehabilitation aids will be prioritized, while actively exploring technologies such as brain-machine interfaces, exoskeleton robots, and muscle exoskeletons to provide technological support for elderly individuals with declining physical functions
