Shares in Zabka Group tumbled after 7-Eleven owner Seven & i Holdings said it was walking away from plans to invest in the Polish food retailer.
Zabka's stock dropped more than 10% in late morning European trade, leading the fallers in the Stoxx Europe 600 index. Seven & i shares closed 0.5% lower in Japan.
Tokyo-listed Seven & i said it wouldn't proceed with a planned investment in Zabka, which is Poland's largest convenience-store chain.
"The company was unable to reach an agreement with the seller on terms that the company determined would be in the best interests of Seven & i's shareholders and other stakeholders," it said in a statement.
Zabka didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
Shares in Zabka had bounced earlier in July, after Japanese outlet Nikkei said that Seven & i was in advanced talks with an undisclosed shareholder about taking a double-digit stake in the Warsaw-listed retailer. Monday's fall would wipe out all the stock's gains since then.
