Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) launched a "universal" Gemini agent that operates across Gmail, Drive, Docs and Calendar.

The agent can perform tasks ranging from answering questions and creating content to coding. Google also built in cost controls, security, administration and governance features aimed at corporate customers.

The launch expands Google’s effort to make Gemini a broader workplace tool rather than limiting the technology to individual AI applications.

Enterprise AI Battle Intensifies

Google’s new agent puts the company in more direct competition with OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) for enterprise AI workloads, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

Winning more corporate customers could help Alphabet monetize the hundreds of billions of dollars it has invested in AI infrastructure.
