Nvidia Drops Massive Number on Anthropic AI Spending

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Nvidia disclosed that Anthropic has contracted over $180 billion in AI infrastructure value across cloud and neocloud providers, securing 2.5 gigawatts of capacity through 2028. This highlights Nvidia's growing revenue opportunity per gigawatt, rising to $40 billion with the Rubin generation. Nvidia is expanding its market share beyond GPUs into full-stack AI infrastructure, projected to reach 44% among top cloud providers by 2027. The company also increased its share repurchase authorization by $150 billion.

Anthropics artificial-intelligence infrastructure commitments are becoming enormous, with Nvidia saying the AI developer now has more than $180 billion of contracted value across cloud providers and neocloud operators.

Nvidia disclosed the figure during its latest Non-Deal Roadshow, offering a new look at just how aggressively Anthropic is locking in computing capacity as it competes with OpenAI and other frontier-model developers.

The Dario Amodei-led company has also contracted for 2.5 gigawatts of Nvidia AI infrastructure scheduled for delivery through 2028.

That is important for Nvidia because each gigawatt of AI infrastructure is becoming substantially more valuable to the chipmaker.

Nvidia said its revenue opportunity per gigawatt, based on its reference designs, has risen from roughly $18 billion during the Hopper generation to $25 billion with Blackwell and $40 billion with Rubin.

Nvidia continues to increase its share within the overall AI infrastructure market, the company said.

The increase reflects more than higher-end GPUs. Nvidia is expanding into CPU racks for agentic AI, low-latency processing systems, networking and other infrastructure needed to operate what it describes as full-stack AI factories.

Its share of information-technology capital spending among the five largest cloud service providers has climbed from 11% in the first quarter of 2023 and is projected by Nvidia to reach 44% by 2027.

Neoclouds are becoming another part of that expansion.

Nvidia said Australian partners including IREN (IREN) and Firmus expect to bring roughly 2 gigawatts of capacity online by 2027.

Investor takeaway

The $180 billion figure is striking, but investors should distinguish Anthropics total contracted cloud and neocloud value from revenue going directly to Nvidia.

The stronger Nvidia signal may instead be the combination of Anthropics 2.5GW commitment and Nvidias rapidly rising revenue opportunity per gigawatt.

If Rubin-era systems really generate roughly $40 billion of opportunity per gigawatt, continued capacity commitments from frontier AI developers could dramatically expand Nvidias addressable market.

The metrics to watch are therefore contracted gigawatts, Rubin deployments, cloud-provider capital spending and how much of each AI data center Nvidia captures beyond GPUs.

That broader infrastructure opportunity helps explain why Nvidia simultaneously expanded its share-repurchase authorization by $150 billion to $235 billion while continuing to invest aggressively in AI.
