YCO Cloud and Aolani plan 10,000-GPU Philippines AI cluster

YCO Cloud and Aolani plan to deploy over 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell Ultra GPUs in the Philippines, targeting an early 2027 launch. The project aims to establish sovereign AI infrastructure serving government agencies and businesses, aligning with national goals for 1.5GW of AI data-center capacity by 2033.

Philippine infrastructure company YCO Cloud and Singapore-based AI cloud provider Aolani plan to deploy more than 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell Ultra graphics processing units in the Philippines, with the first phase scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027.

The companies said in a joint announcement on September 28 that the project will use Nvidia GB300 NVL72 systems and serve government agencies, domestic companies, startups and global AI businesses. They described it as one of the country’s first deployments of the rack-scale platform.

The announcement did not disclose the project’s investment value, computing capacity in megawatts, location, procurement status or commercial customers. The timetable and scale therefore remain forward-looking company targets.

Partners divide infrastructure roles

Aolani is expected to provide GPU financing, deployment and operating capabilities, while YCO Cloud will develop the local digital infrastructure and site. Science Park of the Philippines Inc. will supply power, water and connectivity infrastructure for the project, according to an independent report by Newsbytes.PH.

YCO Cloud said the facility would use dedicated renewable energy sources and follow global standards for energy efficiency, water use and environmental performance. The companies did not provide renewable-energy sourcing details, water-use targets or certification commitments.

Aolani and YCO Cloud also presented the development as sovereign AI infrastructure, meaning computing capacity intended to support workloads and data within the Philippines. The release said access would extend to local government bodies, Philippine enterprises and startups, although it did not identify specific users or reservation agreements.

Government officials quoted in the release welcomed the planned project. Leandro Angelo Aguirre, undersecretary at the Department of Information and Communications Technology, said collaborations involving Philippine and regional companies could help Filipinos become builders and developers of AI. Rosemarie Edillon, undersecretary at the Department of Economy, Planning and Development, said the government was prepared to support a trusted and inclusive AI ecosystem.

GB300 systems target large AI workloads

The Nvidia GB300 NVL72 is a liquid-cooled rack-scale system that combines 72 Blackwell Ultra GPUs with 36 Grace central processing units. Nvidia positions the platform for AI training, inference and reasoning workloads that require large pools of tightly connected computing and memory resources.

A deployment of more than 10,000 GPUs would correspond to at least 139 fully populated NVL72 racks if the project uses complete 72-GPU systems. That figure is a simple calculation based on Nvidia’s published configuration, not a rack count supplied by the partners. The companies did not specify whether all planned GPUs would arrive in the first phase or be installed over several phases.

The parties referred to Nvidia as part of the collaboration, but the announcement did not define Nvidia’s contractual role, financing contribution or delivery commitments. It also did not name the system manufacturer, network architecture or data-center operator beyond the roles assigned to Aolani and YCO Cloud.

Project aligns with national AI infrastructure push

The proposed cluster comes as the Philippines seeks to expand domestic computing capacity for AI. A national infrastructure plan announced earlier in September targets 1.5 gigawatts of AI-oriented data-center capacity by 2033, up from an estimated baseline of about 50 megawatts.

YCO Cloud said the country’s submarine cable links and growing renewable-energy supply support its case as an AI infrastructure location. Aolani, founded in Singapore in 2023, has been building out GPU cloud and AI factory services across Asia.

If delivered on schedule, the project would add a sizable pool of current-generation AI hardware in the Philippines and give local organizations another option for accessing high-performance computing without relying entirely on overseas facilities. Its ultimate impact will depend on whether the partners secure the stated hardware, power and customers on the timetable announced.
