SpaceX Saw Mars, Anthropic Sees AI’s Perils: IPO Filings Reveal Starkly Different Visions — and a $518 Billion Infrastructure Bill

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

SpaceX and Anthropic IPO filings reveal contrasting visions: SpaceX emphasizes space exploration, while Anthropic highlights AI risks with extensive warnings. Anthropic plans a $2 trillion valuation, projecting a $32.56 trillion market and $518 billion in infrastructure costs, despite a $42 billion net loss. SpaceX shares recently rose slightly after listing.

Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) went public earlier this year in the largest IPO in history. Anthropic could be next, with the public offering expected to value the company at more than $2 trillion, and the two companies’ confidential filings reportedly tell starkly different stories about where artificial intelligence is headed.

One Filing Has 3x More Risk Warnings Than the Other

Reuters reporter Echo Wang, who broke the news on both companies’ IPO, said risk factors take up roughly a third of Anthropic’s nearly 300-page filing, compared with about 30 pages in SpaceX’s.

“SpaceX presents this sweeping aspiration for humanity: going to Mars, becoming a spacefaring civilization,” Wang said, while Anthropic talks about what “AI could make possible, but it also confronts what could go terribly wrong.”

A Tighter Information Lockdown

Wang said Anthropic’s control over the IPO process echoes what she saw with SpaceX, but the information lockdown felt even tighter.

Sources described it as the strictest they had encountered during the reporting process, she said, even as her team worked through more than 300 pages to find what actually mattered.

TAM as Big as the US

According to a Wall Street Journal report from August, Anthropic is planning to project a $32.56 trillion total addressable market, which would be roughly the size of the entire U.S. economy, which produced about $32.49 trillion in output in the second quarter.

The Numbers Nobody Had Seen Before

SpaceX’s prospectus reshaped how Wang saw the company, shifting the story from Starlink, long seen as its profit driver, to a business that had quietly become an AI company.

With Anthropic, the reporter said, investors already understood they were looking at a leading enterprise AI company.

The surprises were less about identity and more about numbers that had stayed private.

The Claude maker plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing, and infrastructure obligations in the coming years and posted a $42 billion net loss in 2025, while revenue rose 12-fold to nearly $4.6 billion, according to the prospectus reviewed by Reuters.

Anthropic did not immediately respond to Benzinga’s request for comment.

The company is reportedly planning to list after the November midterm elections.

Price Action: SpaceX’s shares, which have fallen 6.27% since its listing in June, closed 1.09% higher at $150.86 on Wednesday. It is up 1.22% in early pre-market trading on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro.

Benzinga Edge rankings indicate SpaceX’s stock has a positive price trend across the short, medium, and long term.
