Nvidia Just Announced Plans to Pour Billions Into Meta's Muse

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Nvidia announced plans to invest billions in Meta Platforms to support its AI ambitions, specifically for the Muse model family. This collaboration includes optimizing workflows and deploying Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPUs. Concurrently, Meta is raising $95 billion through Class A and C share offerings to fund soaring AI capital expenditures, with Nvidia committing $3 billion to the offering.

When Meta Platforms (META -1.19%) released its quarterly report last week, it contained more than the usual financial information. The social media and artificial intelligence (AI) purveyor announced plans to create a new class of stock -- Class C shares. This non-voting stock, which is poised to begin trading early next year, will be used primarily to raise capital for its soaring AI expenses, employee compensation, and to fund potential acquisitions. Meta plans to effect a 2-for-1 stock split on Jan. 19, 2027 -- in the form of a stock dividend -- issuing one share of Class C stock to shareholders of record for each share of Class A or Class B common stock they own.

Perhaps as importantly, Meta announced plans to raise a total of $95 billion to backstop its heavy investments in AI -- and the move is attracting backing from some of the biggest names in technology. Chief among them is Nvidia (NVDA +0.92%), arguably the architect of the AI revolution. Just this morning, the semiconductor specialist announced plans to pour billions of dollars into Meta to fund its AI ambitions.

You can't spell AI without Nvidia

In a separate press release that dropped on Monday, Nvidia and Meta announced plans to expand their collaboration on the Muse family of AI models, citing the growing popularity and demand for AI agents. Indeed, Meta's Muse models and AI agents, powered by Nvidia processors, have "delivered frontier-level benchmark performance and surging consumer downloads since launch," according to the release.

The pair plan to deepen their collaboration, "by partnering on optimizations across workflows to maximize performance and improve total cost of ownership." Nvidia and Meta are also exploring other opportunities, including the use of Nvidia's OpenShell and Sentry, designed to ensure the safe deployment and monitoring of AI agent behavior.

Meta also plans to increase its deployment of Nvidia's Vera Rubin graphics processing units (GPUs), Vera CPUs, and Spectrum-X Ethernet to boost the performance of its AI agents,

Meta is already one of Nvidia's biggest customers. The pair expanded their partnership earlier this year, announcing a multi-year deal in which Meta would deploy "millions" of Nvidia's Blackwell and Rubin chips, as well as the company's Grace and Vera CPUs.

Meta's fundraising efforts will be spread out over the coming months. First, the company will raise $35 billion through an underwritten public offering, attracting foundational investors such as Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices, and Broadcom. The trio of AI chipmakers have expressed interest in buying up to $5 billion in Meta's Class A shares, with Nvidia contributing $3 billion. Meta plans to raise another $60 billion through the sale of Class C shares beginning early next year.

The fundraising binge comes at a critical time for the tech giant. Meta recently confirmed that it is on track to have 2026 capital expenditures in the range of $135 billion to $145 billion, roughly double the $72.2 billion the company spent last year.

Concerns about the company's legal challenges and heavy spending on AI have weighed on Meta, which has shed 16% over the past year. However, at 21 times earnings, the stock has much of the downside potential priced in.

For its part, Nvidia continues to post year-over-year revenue and profit growth of more than 100%, yet is selling for less than 28 times earnings.

Despite the risk of a potential slowdown in AI-related spending, both of these industry titans are attractively priced.
