"At a current market cap of $5.6 trillion, the buyback will theoretically reduce NVDA market cap by 4.2% over the next 16 months, and potentially increased 2028 Adj EPS by +1.6%, net of interest income on cash to fund the buyback," Black tweeted.

The Nvidia Stock Buyback
With potential pressure to meet optimistic earnings and revenue forecasts, Nvidia announced a record stock buyback.
The company’s board of directors added $150 billion to its existing buyback, which takes the remaining total up to $235 billion. Nvidia said this is the largest share buyback authorization in history.
Nvidia will execute the remaining share buybacks through fiscal 2028.
“Our cash generation gives us the capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders. This authorization reflects our confidence in the long-term opportunity ahead,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said.
News of the buyback comes weeks after CNBC host Jim Cramer called for a $500 billion share buyback from Nvidia and Huang to prove that shares were undervalued.
"It would demonstrate a level of conviction that is much needed right here. At 14x earnings, Nvidia’s stock is the best investment Jensen Huang can make," Cramer said at the time.
Nvidia is expected to announce third-quarter financial results in November, which could allow the company to update on whether it has conducted any purchases of shares in recent months.
