Vultr Will Deploy AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs in a 20 MW Supercluster in Chennai

Vultr, the world’s largest privately held cloud infrastructure company, announced it will deploy AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs in a new 20 MW supercluster in Chennai, India. It will be the country’s largest AMD Instinct deployment and Vultr’s second of the world’s largest, alongside its supercluster in Springfield, Ohio. Each GPU has 288GB of HBM3E memory and 8TB/s of memory bandwidth. The cluster will serve AI labs and foundation model builders, startups, enterprises and research institutions, using AMD’s ROCm open software. Vultr plans additional capacity in 2027, including AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs and the AMD Helios rack-scale architecture.

"Enterprises deploying AI at scale need infrastructure they can access locally to meet data sovereignty, data residency, and latency requirements," said J.J. Kardwell, CEO of Vultr.

Susquehanna Raises AMD’s Price Target to $620 From $550

Susquehanna analyst Christopher Rolland kept a Positive rating on AMD and raised his price target to $620 from $550. In a separate note, the firm said it expects modest upside for semiconductor companies’ third-quarter results and fourth-quarter guidance, with lead times expanding by about two weeks for a second straight quarter. It also expects below-seasonal second-half client results for AMD and Intel, because PC builds are tracking below expectations. AMD is expected to report on November 3.

Chips Rally as AI Spending Optimism Returns, but Traders Watch Economic Data and the Fed

Semiconductor stocks rose in a broader sector rally after stronger-than-expected updates from Super Micro Computer and SpaceX revived optimism that AI server spending remains robust. Some traders appear to be waiting for economic data to see if the Federal Reserve will raise rates this month. Rate hikes raise the cost of borrowing, which can cut spending and tighten the economy, and that tends to hurt growth stocks, including semiconductors. If the data is weak, it could renew inflation concerns and affect the Fed’s rate decision. Odds of an October hike were 44% last week, according to CME FedWatch data cited by Axios.
