Meta's Muse Passes ChatGPT to Become No. 1 App in U.S. App Store
I'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.Meta's new AI agent, Muse, has surged to the No. 1 spot in the U.S. App Store, surpassing OpenAI's ChatGPT within a week of launch. The app distinguishes itself by performing complex tasks like booking trips and filling forms autonomously. This rapid success positions Meta ahead of rivals such as Google's Gemini and Microsoft's Copilot. Meanwhile, Wall Street analysts maintain a Strong Buy consensus on META stock with an average price target of $759.43.
Muse AI, the new AI agent from social media giant Meta Platforms (META), has reached the top of Apple's (AAPL) U.S. App Store just over one week after its launch. Muse now ranks number one overall, ahead of AI developer OpenAI's ChatGPT at number two. In addition, Google's (GOOGL) Gemini ranks eighth, while Anthropic's Claude sits at number 13. The strong start gives Meta an important win as it tries to compete with other companies that already have millions of people using their AI assistants.
One reason Muse stands out is that it can do more than answer questions. For example, Muse can send emails or book trips. It can also open a web browser and fill out forms. Meta says it can even negotiate for users in certain situations.
The process starts when a user gives Muse a goal. From there, the app can create a personalized plan and organize the steps needed to complete it. Muse can then continue the work on its own, even after the user closes the app. If a task requires permission, Muse can stop and ask the user before taking the next step.
Muse Is Already Ahead of Several Major AI Rivals
Importantly, the App Store rankings show how quickly Muse has caught people's attention. Space and AI company SpaceX's (SPCX) Grok currently ranks 32nd, while software giant Microsoft's (MSFT) Copilot sits much lower at 64. This means that Muse has already moved ahead of several well-known AI products despite launching only recently.
Meta Chief AI Officer Alexander Wang celebrated this achievement on X and said that the company has been excited to see what people are already doing with Muse.
The early success also gives Meta a new way to put its AI directly in front of consumers. Until now, much of Meta's AI strategy has been dependent on apps such as Facebook and Instagram. Muse is different because it is a standalone product that competes directly with ChatGPT and Gemini.
What Is the Price Target for Meta?
Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Strong Buy consensus rating on META stock based on 38 Buys, six Holds, and zero Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Furthermore, the average META price target of $759.43 per share implies 13.2% upside potential. (See META Stock Forecast).
