Tencent is preparing to launch an AI search engine for consumers that combines AI-generated answers with web search, Huxiu reported on November 3. The product will feature a minimal interface and prioritize authoritative sources, according to the report.

A Tencent insider told Huxiu that the planned search engine shares its underlying capabilities with search inside the Yuanbao app and Tencent Cloud’s Yuanbao Search API. Tencent Cloud opened the service to business customers two weeks earlier. The search team, formed alongside Yuanbao in mid-2024, draws on technology from QQ Browser and Sogou, giving Tencent a common search infrastructure to deploy across consumer products and developer services.
