Micron’s $150 Billion Contract Book Is Bigger Than Its Full-Year Revenue

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Micron Technology's contract book of $150 billion now exceeds its fiscal 2026 revenue of $133.2 billion, offering investors unusual visibility into future demand. This figure represents remaining performance obligations tied to 26 long-term agreements with take-or-pay commitments, covering over 35% of estimated revenue through 2030. While not cash in hand, these contracts provide greater stability and insight into future memory sales amid high AI-driven demand.

Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU) has reached a point where the value of memory its customers have already committed to buy is larger than everything the company sold in its entire latest financial year.

The chipmaker said Sept. 30 that it now has about $150 billion in remaining performance obligations tied to 26 long-term customer agreements.

Micron generated $133.2 billion in total revenue in fiscal 2026, meaning its contract book is already about 13% larger than a full year of revenue.

That Doesn’t Mean Micron has $150B in the Bank

The figure represents revenue Micron expects to recognize in the future as it supplies memory under those agreements. In other words, it is a measure of committed future business rather than cash already collected.

But these are more than loose customer forecasts.

Micron said all 26 agreements include take-or-pay volume commitments, requiring customers to buy agreed amounts or face contractual consequences. The agreements now cover more than 35% of Micron’s estimated revenue through 2030.

For a memory business long known for violent boom-and-bust cycles, that is a remarkable amount of future demand already under contract.

Another Important Wrinkle

Micron calculates the $150 billion figure using minimum pricing where pricing frameworks are already set. The company said actual revenue generated over the life of the agreements is expected to be higher.

That means the $150 billion should not necessarily be viewed as a ceiling on the revenue associated with these contracts.

The agreements also give Micron something that memory companies have historically lacked: greater visibility into future demand. Instead of relying entirely on spot-market conditions and customers’ changing purchasing plans, a significant portion of Micron’s future memory sales is now tied to contractual commitments.

Memory Market in High-Demand, AI Era

AI infrastructure requires enormous amounts of memory, and customers are increasingly securing supply in advance. Micron’s long-term agreements suggest that some of that demand is moving from forecasts into contractual commitments.

For investors, the bigger takeaway is not that Micron has suddenly booked $150 billion in revenue. It is that future memory demand is becoming visible on Micron’s books at a scale larger than the company’s entire fiscal 2026 revenue base.

The next question is how much of that contracted demand ultimately translates into revenue, and at what pricing and margins. But for a memory business accustomed to sharp cycles, having more than $150 billion in future obligations already on the books changes investors’ visibility into the cycle ahead.
