Saylor Cheers Strive’s $280 Million Bitcoin Buy While Strategy Bought 85% Less
I'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.Strive (NASDAQ:ASST) purchased 3,311 BTC for $280 million, raising its total holdings to 32,773 BTC. This marks its largest weekly buy since January. Meanwhile, Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) reduced its Bitcoin acquisition pace by approximately 85% over two weeks due to lower common-share sale proceeds and increased preferred-stock buybacks. Strategy CEO Michael Saylor praised Strive's move as a 'big stride,' viewing rivals as allies in boosting the asset class.
Strive (NASDAQ:ASST) bought 3,311 Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) for $280 million last week, its largest purchase since January, while Strategy’s (NASDAQ:MSTR) own buying pace has dropped roughly 85%.
What Strive Actually Bought
Strive disclosed in a Tuesday 8-K filing that it added 3,311 BTC between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9, lifting total holdings to 32,773 BTC at an average price near $84,500 per coin.
Strive CEO Matt Cole posted on X that the purchase also included $208 million in exercised warrants, with roughly 15.3 million warrants left to expire the same day.
He added that SATA’s $100 minimum issuance price is now written directly into the company’s governing documents, formalizing a protection that previously existed only as policy.
Strategy’s Michael Saylor reacted on X with a simple line: “₿ig strides.”
The purchase marks Strive’s biggest single-week Bitcoin addition since January, when it picked up roughly 5,048 BTC through its all-stock merger with Semler Scientific.
Here’s where that puts Strive among the largest public Bitcoin holders:
| Company | BTC Holdings |
| Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR) | 848,250 |
| Metaplanet (OTC:MTPLF) | 44,000 |
| Twenty One Capital Inc (NASDAQ:XXI) | 43,514 |
| MARA (NASDAQ:MARA) | 35,577 |
| Strive (NASDAQ:ASST) | 32,773 |
Cole has publicly stated his goal of ending 2026 as the world’s second-largest public Bitcoin holder. Strive still trails Metaplanet by 11,227 BTC, worth roughly $937.5 million.
Why Strategy’s Buying Has Slowed Sharply
Strategy’s own weekly purchases tell a very different story, with the company buying 1,665 BTC on Sept. 21-27, then just 334 BTC the following week, and only 250 BTC in the week ending Oct. 11, a roughly 85% decline across two consecutive drops.
| Period | BTC Purchased | Amount Spent |
| Sept. 21-27 | 1,665 BTC | $142.7 million |
| Sept. 28-Oct. 4 | 334 BTC | $28.7 million |
| Oct. 5-11 | 250 BTC | $21.5 million |
Two factors explain the slowdown:
- Common-share sale proceeds dropped sharply, falling from $246.2 million in the first week to just $15.7 million and $21 million in the two weeks that followed
- STRC preferred-stock buybacks ramped up at the same time, totaling $368.7 million across the latest two weeks, roughly 7.3 times what Strategy spent on Bitcoin over that same stretch
As Benzinga reported in September, Saylor has publicly framed Strive and other Bitcoin treasury rivals as allies rather than competitors, arguing that rising Bitcoin prices and growing investor trust in the category lift every company holding the asset, not just the one buying that week.
