SpaceX vs. Nvidia: One Stock Is a Strong Buy, but the Other Has More Upside, According to Wall Street

Tip Ranks

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

Wall Street analysts rate Nvidia as a Strong Buy with 44% upside potential, citing dominant AI hardware revenue growth. SpaceX receives a Moderate Buy consensus but offers higher projected returns of 56%. The comparison highlights Nvidia's established financial strength versus SpaceX's broader technological portfolio and recent IPO performance.

Rockets and AI chips rarely belong in the same stock comparison, yet SpaceX (NASDAQ:SPCX) and Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) are making that pairing logical. AI is bringing their worlds together, with SpaceXAI becoming a heavy user of Nvidia's computing hardware as it expands its AI infrastructure.

Nvidia enters this comparison as the more established AI powerhouse, having turned soaring demand for computing capacity into massive revenue and profits. Fiscal second-quarter revenue reached $96.2 billion, up 106% from last year, while Data Center sales climbed 117% to $89 billion. The next hardware cycle is already underway, with Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform now in full production as customers prepare new deployments.

SpaceX offers investors a far broader collection of technologies under one roof, spanning launch services, Starlink connectivity, Starship development, satellites, and AI. Second-quarter revenue reached $7.8 billion after rising 92% year-over-year, while Starlink's subscriber base doubled to 12 million.

AI has become another important piece of Elon Musk's sprawling operation, requiring vast amounts of computing capacity to support its development. Looking farther ahead, SpaceX also sees Starship playing a role in orbital data facilities, potentially moving some future computing infrastructure beyond Earth altogether.

SpaceX enters this week facing another key test on Monday, as Starship prepares for its 14th flight. The mission is expected to attempt Starship's first orbital launch while deploying 26 Starlink V3 satellites, giving investors another look at technology central to SpaceX's longer-term plans.

Its stock-market journey has already provided almost as much excitement as its rockets since the June IPO. SPCX currently trades about 10% above its offering price, although anyone buying near the post-IPO peak has learned that gravity applies to rocket stocks too, with shares now around 30% below that high.

Nvidia comes into the matchup from the opposite end of the spectrum after years of converting AI spending into rapidly growing financial results. NVDA shares have soared 422% over the past three years and added another 21% during 2026, showing investors remain willing to pay for its dominant position despite expectations already running high.

Wall Street sees considerable room for both stocks to climb, although Nvidia earns the stronger endorsement. All 31 analysts covering NVDA during the past 3 months recommend the stock, resulting in a Strong Buy consensus rating. The average 12-month price target stands at $324.32, implying 44% upside from Friday's closing price. (See NVDA stock forecast)

Meanwhile, SpaceX receives a Moderate Buy consensus from 33 analysts, consisting of 26 Buys, 5 Holds, and 2 Sells. Yet, SPCX takes the lead on potential returns, as the $232.07 average price target implies about 56% upside over the coming year. (See SPCX stock forecast)
