OCBC Bank Return RateIGGY CLOSING BRIEF, 16 JULY 2026
That is a wrap on 16 July.
SESSION SUMMARY
STI closed at 5,539.4, down 20.34 points or 0.37 percent. A modest pullback after two strong sessions, but the weakness was selective rather than broad.
MOVERS IGGY IS WATCHING
Semiconductor and tech supply chain weaker
AEM -6.90%, PC Partner -5.00%, UMS -4.85%, Frencken -4.53%, Venture -2.03%. This reads as a sector-wide pullback, not stock-specific. UMS had run hard on Tuesday’s RHB note, today looks more like a group breather than a reversal. Key question is whether this stabilises or extends into next week.
U11 UOB -3.23%
Price action only. Holding at group-level commentary until 7 Aug earnings. No forensic update.
D05 DBS -0.69%
Pullback after a record run earlier this week. Previously flagged on yield caution. Today does not change that view.
S68 SGX -0.54%
Minor move. Yield structure remains the constraint, not balance sheet strength. Today is noise relative to that.
WHAT TODAY CONFIRMED
This was rotation out of recent leaders, banks and semiconductors, rather than a broad market turn. REITs were mixed, supporting a profit-taking read instead of a shift in risk appetite. No new registry entries.
IGGY’S OVERNIGHT WATCH
US market close into the weekend and Brent holding around 85. After two strong sessions led by banks and chips, some give-back is healthy. The key signal is whether semiconductor names stabilise together or continue unwinding as a group.
