Community AI Notes | He built an options-strategy recommender with the Longbridge API

Getting started with options is a wall of hurdles for beginners — the concepts are hard, the strategies are convoluted, there are too many variables, and the parameters are a mess.

Want to untangle all of that in one go?

Community member @阿特修罗 used the Longbridge Open Platform and AI to build the "Options Strategy Recommender":

💻 Enter a ticker and your position, and it tells you the strategy / expiry month / strike / projected ROI + a plain-language breakdown

Original post 👉 Options too hard to understand? I built a beginner-friendly strategy recommender with AI

Open source: https://github.com/weiyuan0917-a11y/us-options-advisor

The workflow in one line

Enter a ticker + your position, and you get:

  1. A single strategy that matches your view, or a side-by-side comparison of several
  2. Payout and ROI modeled against the stock price at expiry
  3. An exportable CSV / HTML report, with a plain-language AI write-up explaining why this strategy fits you

Full strategy coverage — not just "buy calls or buy puts"

Mid-to-long-term options aren't limited to just buying calls or buying puts.

The tool's strategy pool covers the full set — LEAPS, spreads, covered calls, cash-secured puts (CSP), collars, iron condors, iron butterflies — automatically sorted into four quadrants: bullish / bearish / volatility-neutral / tied to your position.

In a live test on AAPL, a single run returned 22 candidate strategies, all ranked by view match and ROI at the target price

The volatility surface behind the strategy read

The "AI strategy read" on the results page is generated by a deterministic rule engine — fixed rules combine your view, the options' volatility structure, the broker's target price, the earnings calendar, and your account capital, and output a plain-language explanation.

The volatility (skew) curve marks the "hedging premium" on the put side, giving the AI's read a visual data backbone.

Real data, pulled straight from the account

If the data isn't accurate, even the best strategy is castles in the air.

The community member wired it into the Longbridge Open Platform: the account's actual position in that stock, USD cash, plus the broker consensus target price and earnings calendar — all read straight from the platform

Data that absolutely has to be accurate — account positions, cash, institutional target prices — that's handed to Longbridge!

What it pullsCorresponding capability
Actual positionCurrent stock holdings in the account (quantity, available quantity, cost basis, currency, market)
CashAccount asset overview — net worth, cash, buying power, margin, broken out by currency
Institutional consensus targetRating distribution and the current average target price
Earnings calendarUpcoming/most recent earnings for a ticker, filterable by ticker

Want to try it yourself? Head to the Longbridge Open Platform!
