Tata Steel reported a record crude steel production of 23.48 million tonnes (mt) in FY26, an 8% increase year-on-year, driven by the Kalinganagar ramp-up. Q4FY26 production reached 6.25 mt, up 15% Y-o-Y. Domestic deliveries also hit a record 22.53 mt, with significant growth in automotive and special products. E-commerce gross merchandise value surged 161% to Rs 9,360 crore. Internationally, Tata Steel Netherlands produced 6.7 mt, while UK deliveries fell to 2.2 mt due to market conditions. The company is advancing plans for a 3 MTPA electric arc furnace at Port Talbot.

VISA Steel Limited has increased its share capital to Rs. 1,45,78,95,000 by allotting 1,65,00,000 equity shares to promoter group entity VISA Industries Limited at Rs. 40 per share. This move consolidates promoter ownership and follows a previous allotment of 1,35,00,000 shares in December 2025. The Rs. 49.5 crore infusion strengthens the company's equity base, supporting future initiatives and reflecting promoter confidence. VISA Steel, based in Odisha, focuses on steel production for domestic industrial customers.

Overall, RSP produced 41.65 lakh tonnes of saleable steel, a 2.1% increase from the previous year. The plant set new records in techno-economic efficiency, attributing success to operational discipline and resource optimisation, with plans for further growth in the current financial year.

The Odisha government has requested the Centre's approval to divert 216.875 hectares of forest land in Keonjhar for Tata Steel's Gandhalapada iron ore block. This proposal aims to support Tata Steel's expansion plans to increase crude steel production capacity from 19 MTPA to 40 MTPA by 2030, requiring around 66 MTPA of iron ore. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 125 crore, is expected to create direct and indirect jobs and enhance revenue through various contributions. The proposal is pending clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Coal India Limited (CIL) plans to invest ₹3,300 crore in establishing eight new coking coal washeries to enhance domestic coal quality and reduce imports for the steel sector. The facilities, expected to be operational by FY2030, will have a combined capacity of 21.5 million tonnes per year. CIL will also invest ₹300 crore in modernizing existing washeries and is pursuing asset monetisation.
