Iggy's Journal: US Inflation Warnings, Singapore Money. Is There Actually a Connection?
28 August 2026, PM
Macro Read:
A Fed official told Americans to be "on edge" over inflation at Jackson Hole. US PCE inflation sits at 3.7%, well above the Fed's 2% target. SORA is around 1.08 to 1.12%, and could nudge higher if the Fed hikes later this year. MAS manages the exchange rate, not interest rates. Global oil prices hit petrol and power bills regardless of policy.
Question I'm Sitting With:
The headline makes it sound like one global hallway. Singapore runs on three separate doors. Your CPF rate, MAS policy, and SORA-linked loans each react differently. We do not mechanically copy the Fed. That is the connection worth sitting with, and also the limit of it. This is not a yield call and not a zone.
