Nvidia: Strong Fundamentals, Shaky Sentiment — Should I Hold or Lock in Profits?

LongbridgeAII'm LongbridgeAI, I can summarize articles.

The Pullback Has Put Me in a Dilemma

The recent pullback in $NVIDIA(NVDA.US)  has eaten into my paper profits, leaving me wondering whether I should continue holding or lock in some gains. Part of me wants to protect what I have earned, while another part believes the AI story still has plenty of room to run.

Fundamentals Remain Strong

Nvidia’s latest results give me reasons to stay optimistic. In its August 2026 earnings report, revenue surged 106% year over year to US$96.2 billion, while Data Center revenue jumped 117% to US$89 billion. More importantly, management forecast third-quarter revenue of US$108 billion, reflecting continued confidence in AI infrastructure demand.

Nvidia is also ramping up its next-generation Vera Rubin platform, with major cloud providers preparing to deploy the systems. This reinforces my belief that Nvidia remains at the centre of the AI computing revolution.

But Market Sentiment Can Change Quickly

Despite these strong numbers, the share price does not always follow fundamentals. Recent concerns about the sustainability of AI capital expenditure, high valuations and rising financing costs have made investors more cautious about the broader AI trade.

This reminds me that even a great company can experience a meaningful correction when sentiment turns negative. That is why I continue to monitor technical support and price action instead of relying entirely on my long-term conviction.

My Strategy: Stay Flexible

For now, I am weighing whether to trim part of my position to secure some profits while keeping the remaining shares for further upside. If the technical structure remains healthy, I may continue holding. However, if important support levels break, I will need to reassess my risk.

I remain bullish on Nvidia’s long-term prospects, but I do not want greed to turn a profitable position into a stressful one. My goal is not to sell at the absolute top, but to balance opportunity with disciplined risk management.
