Featured[Mou's Weekly] Earning less is a cost, losing more is an accident (Week 37 of 2026 | Issue No. 287)

Setting aside grand theories, let's look at a past event. The week of December 17, 2018, saw the Fed raise rates on Wednesday and Quadruple Witching Day on Thursday—a schedule identical to next week's. That hike was also fully priced in, with pre-meeting market odds exceeding 70%. Yet, the S&P 500 fell 7.05% for the week and Nasdaq dropped 8.36%, marking the worst week since 2011. Three details warrant closer inspection. First, the rate hike itself came as no surprise. The selloff was triggered by Powell's remark at the press conference: 'QT is on autopilot and won't be changed'...

$SPY RESPECTABLE 9/11 BUT Again, the Candle did NOT Impress.

I think best I heard From Hedge Fund Manager.

On a 9/11 POP we would SELL into Strength but NOT Deploy New Capital Until After FOMC and Markets Settle in to Rate Hike or Hold Decisions.

That is a Fair assessment IMO

🌟🌟🌟This is crunch week - a tale of 2 dates that will define Wall Street: the US August CPI release on Friday September 11 & the highly anticipated FOMC rate decision on Wednesday September 16.

With international oil prices having recently hitting over USD 100 & energy cost surging, the anxiety is real.

However over an extended multi year horizon, the macroeconomic noise of a single CPI report or FOMC meeting fades into a minor blip on a chart.

I will continue to dollar cost average into $State Street Portfolio S&P 500 ETF - SPDR(SPYM.US)which is widely regarded as one of the most reliable ways to build long term wealth.

    $VG S&P 500(VOO.US)

Context: The S&P 500 is hovering near the $705 level as broader market sentiment balances resilient economic data with cautious tech earnings projections. Valuations remain somewhat elevated, leading to modest intraday consolidation across core index components.

My trade: Placed limit buy order — executed my scheduled monthly allocation by submitting a tiered limit order slightly below current market levels around $700, aiming to capture potential short-term pullbacks rather than chasing market orders at intraday highs.

Takeaway: Combining regular monthly dollar-cost averaging with disciplined limit orders ensures steady accumulation without overpaying during quiet consolidation phases.

Last night PPI made a wild market as the Spy drop and pump then remains choppy. If today CPI is anything the same. We should buckle up even with earnings gains supporting the market as there will be even more sudden big movements to upside and downside.

    $VG S&P 500(VOO.US)

Context: The S&P 500 is trading in a tight, choppy band around the $705 zone today as markets digest shifting macro data and post-holiday trading volumes. Index action remains subdued, with participants weighing ongoing earnings durability against broad large-cap valuations.

My trade: Maintained position / DCA on watch — I am holding my core index allocation steady without reacting to intraday drift, keeping my scheduled accumulation plan intact while watching key technical support near 700 for any discount add-in opportunities.

Takeaway: Sideways drift is part of the process; keeping emotions detached from small daily index fluctuations ensures consistent, disciplined compounding over the long run.
