South Korea's KOSPI index opened at 7,093.01, maintaining its position above the 7,000 mark and extending its record-breaking streak. According to NS3.AI, the index later traded at 7,237.49, marking a 4.33% increase from the previous trading day.

S Korea's S&P Manufacturing PMI rose to 53.6 in April, the highest in over four years, indicating strong output and new orders. Despite rising raw material prices, companies increased output prices, leading to record inflation rates. Employment grew for the second month, but business confidence fell due to uncertainties from the Middle East conflict. Supplier delivery times worsened significantly, and purchasing activity expanded despite inventory declines.

- The S&P Global announced that South Korea's seasonally adjusted manufacturing PMI rose from 52.6 in March to 53.6 in April, remaining above the neutral mark of 50.  
- This is the highest level since February 2022, driven by strong output growth and a surge in new orders due to customers building safety stocks amid rising prices and delivery delays.  
- However, input cost inflation reached its highest since April 2004, as businesses passed on higher costs to customers, leading to a record increase in output prices amidst declining business confidence.

In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the need for price stability and structural economic reforms while omitting any mention of stablecoins, despite their growing importance in South Korea's digital landscape. The Bank plans to expand CBDC initiatives and collaborate on global projects to enhance the Korean won's role in digital finance, while discussions on a legal framework for stablecoins are expected to resume post-elections.
