On Tuesday, the VN-Index rose by 22.55 points (1.22%) to close at 1,875.84, driven by large-cap Vin-family stocks. The VN30-Index also increased by 30 points (1.49%) to 2,041.40. Despite 210 decliners, 107 stocks advanced, with total trading volume exceeding 629.7 million shares valued at approximately VNĐ19.4 trillion (US$737.2 million). Notable gainers included Vinhomes and Vincom Retail, while the oil and gas sector faced selling pressure. The HNX-Index fell by 2.51 points (1%) to 249.44, with foreign investors net selling nearly VNĐ528.6 billion.

Vietnam has become the world's 18th largest exporting economy, with nearly US$473 billion in turnover for 2025, according to Statista. Among the top 30 exporters, 11 are Asian economies, with China leading at $3.8 trillion, followed by the U.S. at $2.2 trillion and Germany at $1.8 trillion. Vietnam's exports surged over 16% from 2024, driven by electronics and machinery, achieving a trade surplus of over $20 billion. Total trade has grown from $100 billion in 2009 to $930 billion last year, nearing $1 trillion soon.

Vietnam ranks 18th among world’s top exporters

The VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose by 19.94 points (1.1%) to 1,837.11, marking its highest close since February. Blue chips, particularly from the Vin group, drove this increase, contributing nearly 15 points. The VN30-Index also gained, closing at 2,009.04. Despite a mixed performance with 154 stocks up and 150 down, total trading value reached over VNĐ21.7 trillion. Foreign investors returned to net selling, with VIC being the most sold stock. SGX reported strong performance in Singapore-linked equity derivatives for March, with MSCI Singapore futures averaging $2.5b in daily volume and SIMSCI NTR contracts reaching a record open interest of $651.7m.
