Week 2 โ Earnings Impact and Portfolio Discipline

In week two of my earnings season check-up, I reviewed my holdings as Q1 results continue to come out. My portfolio is still heavily concentrated in tech and semiconductors, with Comfort Systems making up over 53% and the Direxion Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF around 21%.

This week I focused on Western Digitalโs earnings. The company showed strong revenue growth and better margins, driven by demand in cloud infrastructure and nearline storage, which supports my long-term view. Iโm also watching NVIDIA closely ahead of its upcoming report, especially around AI and data center trends.

On the weaker side, ProShares Ultra Gold and Palantir Technologies saw some pressure, a reminder of how sector trends and market sentiment can shift during earnings season.

It cut the estimated copper busbar requirement per GW for traditional racks to 200 tons from 500,000 tons โ a drastic change. The correction undercuts the aggressive thesis that AI compute would trigger an explosive surge in copper demand, prompting a reset of supply-demand assumptions across the copper value chain. Near term, it deflates copper-price froth and eases data-center build-cost pressure.

$Walmart(WMT.US) weekly we are early in the week but note the red stick indicating a temp top on the weekly at elevated RSI. Note that since my buy in Dec 2023 price has ridden the 50ma and the 21ma. Since the pullback in April all pullbacks/basing price has held at the 21ma weekly. So this gives us another level to watch for basing. Also note the strong volume the last 4 weeks have had so this again gives us an idea that a pullback might be shallow and the 21 might hold on the weekly as this gives the daily plenty of room to unwind. I also put a stochastic on this chart to show that it is turning south and has yet to put in a bear cross. Prior times when it gave a bear cross with temp top sticks it pulled in to help unwind. All the while the 21ma held price with the exception of April and that is where you can see price caught on the 50ma and stochs put in a bull cross buy signal. Price is what pays and indicators are secondary but can help confirm what price is/isn't doin. Only use them if they help you. Many get paralyzed by them and if you are one, then take them off your chart and follow PRICE and candle action.
