Moreover, capital flowed back into chop stocks as Microsoft's impressive YoY gain have revived the believe in AI demand. Looking forward, I'm excited for Apple's earnings, while being neutral on Amazon. Apple has been pretty consistent with their earnings record so bar any big moves, I expect earnings to be modestly decent.

$UMS(558.SG)UMS remains under pressure as semiconductor stocks continue to face selling after the Fed’s hawkish pause and rising Treasury yields. Weaker sentiment across the AI chip supply chain has weighed on the sector, even though the long-term demand outlook remains intact.

The recent pullback appears driven more by macro sentiment than company specific fundamentals. With AI infrastructure spending still expected to stay strong, attention now shifts to Amazon and Apple earnings, along with Friday’s Core PCE inflation data. Positive results or easing inflation could help stabilize semiconductor sentiment.

Microsoft's results reinforce my conviction that the AI investment cycle is still intact. The market is no longer rewarding AI spending alone—it wants clear monetisation. Azure's 43% growth and stable capex show Microsoft is converting AI investments into real earnings, which is exactly what investors have been waiting to see.

Meta's weak free cash flow doesn't make me bearish on AI. To me, it highlights execution risk rather than the end of the AI trade. Companies that can demonstrate profitable AI deployment will continue to outperform, while those with rising spending but slower returns may face more pressure in the near term.

I'm staying constructive on the sector and will continue accumulating quality names during volatility, especially semiconductor and AI infrastructure leaders. With Apple and Amazon reporting next, I think this earnings season will further separate the true AI winners from the rest.

A bit of a nice surprise as Microsoft finally breaks the consecutive loss between quarters and reported better than expected earnings with Azure cloud growth being the highlight. On the other hand, Meta investors continue to endure the drawdown with ongoing legal battles and slowing growth. On the macro side of things, FED holds rate steady which was pretty expected; I personally think there might only be 1 rate hike at the end of the year. Now attention turns to Amazon and Apple for tomorrow.

The Korean government is also stepping in to save the situation as retail investors get caught up with margin trading and leveraged etfs. Even with companies reporting solid earnings, a soft guidance or merely meeting expectations would still send the stock right down as the bearish sentiment starts to get real. Both beaten down stocks Meta & Msft report after Bell tonight. while Apple and Amazon follow suit a day later. This could be the real crash investors are waiting for to buy the dip while fomo traders lose out.

The Nvidia pullback doesn't change my long-term view. A 5% drop after such a massive rally is normal, especially before the Fed decision and a week packed with Big Tech earnings. Markets are simply repricing risk, not abandoning the AI story.

I'm watching the memory sector even more closely. If SK Hynix and other memory names continue to sell off despite solid fundamentals, I'll see it as a chance to gradually add rather than panic. Demand for HBM and AI infrastructure still looks strong over the next few years.

For me, this week is all about execution. The Fed, Microsoft, Meta, Apple and Amazon earnings will matter far more than one day's price action. If the AI investment thesis remains intact, I'll stay patient and keep buying quality names on weakness.

4. Geopolitical & Energy Pivot

What to watch: Lower oil prices take the inflationary pressure off the consumer. If Iran war escalates, oil will surge past USD 100 a barrel.

Let's hope the market will have lots of good news. If not, then it is a great time for bargain hunting.

I’m leaning toward selectively buying the rebound instead of chasing it aggressively. The pullback in oil is a positive for growth stocks because it eases inflation and rate concerns, but I think this relief rally still needs confirmation from the Fed and this week's Big Tech earnings.

What excites me more is Nvidia's continued commitment to AI infrastructure. Whether it's supporting OpenAI's massive data center financing or investing in NAVER, it reinforces my long-term conviction that AI spending is far from over. That's why I'm still more bullish on semiconductors and AI infrastructure than on short-term market swings.

For me, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and SK Hynix will be the key reports this week. If they can show that AI investments are translating into stronger revenue and sustainable demand, I'll be comfortable adding to my AI and semiconductor positions. Otherwise, I'll stay patient and wait for better entry points.
